JULY 16-22, 2017 REGGAE SUMFEST MONTEGO BAY JAMAICA

Stephen Marley and son, Jo Mersa Marley just confirmed for 2017 Reggae Sumfest in Jamaica July 16-22.
Downsound Entertainment is proud to announce the addition of a special performance by Stephen Marley together with his son, Jo Mersa Marley, on Saturday night, July 22, 2017

celebrating the 25th Edition of Reggae Sumfest Presented by Red Stripe in Montego Bay Jamaica. Their performance will be at Catherine Hall on the final night of the week-long takeover of Montego Bay which includes 5 themed pre-parties and two nights of main events featuring the world’s biggest reggae and dancehall stars.

This star-studded event is surely one for the Reggae history books and adding Marleys to the bill sends it over the top.

The talented son of Bob Marley and his wife Rita Marley, Stephen is an eight-time
Grammy-award winner: three times as a solo artist, twice as a producer of younger brother Damian Marley’s ‘Halfway Tree’ and ‘Welcome to Jamrock’ albums,
and a further three times as a member of Ziggy Marley & The Melody Makers.

His 2011 album ‘Revelation Pt. 1 – The Root of Life’ won the Grammy Award for Best Reggae Album in 2012. The follow-up, “Revelation Pt. 2 – The Fruit of Life” was released in July 2016.

In his self-produced solo albums ‘Mind Control’ (2007), ‘Mind Control Acoustic’ (2008), ‘Revelation Part I: The Root of Life’ (2011) and ‘Revelation Part II: The Fruit of Life’ (2016), Stephen has displayed artistic creativity previously associated with American legends such as Stevie Wonder and Prince, where the artiste composes and produces all the songs on his album, and plays a variety of the musical instruments himself.

A Family Affair

Stephen’s son, Jo Mersa Marley will also be performing. Bob Marley’s 26-year-old grandson’s sound favors dancehall over traditional reggae, and his debut release ‘Comfortable’, on which he produced five of six tracks, also contains elements of R&B and EDM.
As Jo’s career progresses, he looks forward to making his mark as an individual artist while continuing the Marley musical legacy.

Other artists on this unsurpassed line-up include Alkaline, Mavado, Sean Paul, Sizzla, Bounty Killer, Beenie Man, and many, many more. This is a once-in-a-lifetime chance to see all of these artists in safe, beautiful Montego Bay.

Both nights of Reggae Sumfest will be viewable on all devices in free, high-definition Livestream and a cutting-edge 360 Livestream for fans around the globe.
